Baratunde Ma'at, the father of Forgotten Foods, now Remembered Foods, is the manufacturer of Chinese Herbal Tonics and has a 35 year history with Traditional Chinese Herbalism, Alchemy and Spiritual Sciences. At a young age, Baratunde would spend his time alone in the forest of Hartford, Connecticut. His religion was nature and connecting with the sacred living intelligence of the plant beings. He learned about the plants and discovered that they carry a distinct language. As a result, Baratunde has a natural relationship with the plant kingdom, whereby like the late great George Washington Carver, the herbs and plants communicate with him directly. The plant’s spirit reveals their Divine powers through him.
Baratunde has always had an intrigue with The Oriental Healing Arts. This led him to the study of Martial Arts under the training of Grand Master Daniel K Pai where he studied Kung Fu and began his journey as an herbalist studying Hit Medicine. Throughout his tenure as an herbalist, he has been blessed to study at the feet of many herbalist masters. He is a student of Ethno-Botany, Traditional Chinese, African and Mayan Herbalism. His travels to Africa and the Caribbean, along with these diverse areas of study, have led him to the arts and sciences of Planetary Herbalism and Shamanism.
His proprietary herbal formulas and spiritual intent originate from Taoism and his alchemy behind The Forgotten Foods is very ancient, predating the arrival of Buddhism in China. Baratunde has received spiritual readings that have revealed that in a past life he was one of the noted Black Chinese herbalist during ancient China. As a confirmation of this spiritual awareness, while meditating, he often receives messages and instruction from the ancient ones for his formulations.
Baratunde is also a certified Emeri Qigong practitioner, taught by Qigong Grandmaster Foo Wei Zong, one of the world’s foremost experts on Medical Qigong. This evolution of his healing journey was profound and further cultivated his art as a natural healer. Other areas of profession include professional guitarist and song writer and prestidigitator.
Baratunde’s, wife and soul mate, Kayah Ma’at, has a 30 year history of natural health and transitional diet activism. Her commitment to a natural lifestyle can best be seen through the examples of her children. Kayah birthed both of her daughters at home…no hospitals. She breastfed, by-passed all vaccines and processed foods... and raised them as vegans. This natural way of raising children enabled her to circumvent the need for all allopathic visits and medicines. As a result, her children were 19 and 20 years of age when they had their very first doctor’s visit!…and this was only to see a GYN, due to peer pressure. Kayah’s philosophy on health and wellness is that Mother is the first doctor!
Kayah Ma’at is also a prolific culinary artist and has owned and operated two vegan restaurants in Atlanta GA. She is also a certified raw food chef… certified by raw food guru and pioneer, Dr. Aris LaTham, Sunfire Foods. As a result, she now blends the raw culinary arts along with The Remembered Foods sacred herbal sciences to create new high frequency superior-foods…known to be extremely delicious:-). Kayah has facilitated hundreds of workshops and seminars educating the public on health, nutrition and personal health accountability. She offers marriage counseling and lifestyle coaching for many who are desirous to wholistically transform their lives. She has a natural intuitive gift that spiritually complements her husband. She has been an entrepreneur and self-employed for 32 years. With a background in health, business, law and marketing she brings these talents to their business.
